Default Valve Spring issues... need a GOOD corvette specialist!!!

I own a 03 Z06 and one of the valve springs broke so I need someone that really knows what they're doing because I'm hearing different opinions and I'm not sure what to do.

PLEASE HELP!!!

How far are you from Oxnard? If you're not far, contact A&A Corvette (see link on the far left side of this page...site sponsor), as they are a terrific shop and will fix you right up.

It shouldnt take a rocket scientist to figure this out! The first thing you need to do is an inspection. Start by pulling the head off and hope you didn't break or deform a piston. And check the cylinder wall for cracks.
Then take the head to a machine shop and have them check it out and replace the damaged parts. They will tell you the shape everything is in. You might as well do both heads and do it right.
Last, replace all the valve springs.

If you have or suspect a broken valve spring, don't drive the car. These cars have single springs and you could push a valve into a piston if you drive it. Flat bed it to a competent Corvette garage and let them look, a broken spring can be spotted very quickly. And the Z06 springs have had somewhat of a checkered history.

If one is broken, you next will need to figure out if a valve got bent. This can be done a number of ways without pulling heads. Compression check will tell fairly quickly, but only after you correct the bad spring. Once it is all sorted out, replace all the springs, not just the broken one.

Also, with an 03, you may be able to get a goodwill repair from GM. Worth asking about at a minimum.

I see your vette is a 2003, is it still under warranty ?

If so, I would have it towed to the dealer, if not I would find a local vette shop to fix it for you.

Just don't start the engine until you get it sorted out. Vette's have interference motors (i.e. you loose a timing chain or valve spring and there is a high likelyhood that your valves will make contact with your pistons.

Hopefully, you'll be one of the lucky one's.

Good luck and post up what happended.

Oxnard is about 150 miles from Temeculah. If he has AAA+ roadservice or knows someone who does, that would cover 100 miles of it.

I would let a dealer do the job if it is still under warranty.
