I've heard of them a lot. They're big in the racing scene. As TT put it, they are supposed to be really good stuff (hence the price).

Donavan engines are very well known in the drag racing industry, make great aluminum heads and complete engines. HIGH quality parts.

Read the condition. It reads FX which is not feasable to repair. Most of these I see for sale have been blown up and have damage in the webs or side of block. If they are rebuildable they are usually not sold or bring BIG BUCKS! Donovan is an excellent block and the choice in a lot of sprint cars.

Why would the government ( Department of Defense ) buy an $7,320 Donovan block ? I guess it tells you a little bit about why taxes are so high

You'd know the world is about to end if i ever put any thing "high quality" in MY car. Hey, it cost more than 200 bucks.

Maybe i could buy a used one from the government.

Legalize the drugs, charge taxes on them, and drive the bad guys out of business...then the government won't need a $7k engine block.

The one in gov auction looks like a big block chevy ... and there are NO main caps shown with it ... better know what you're doing before you sink any $ in anything like that.

Default 471 Donovan

I have been using Donovan 417 aluminum racing Chryslers since 1973 when they were first available in both my AA/Fuel Roadster and then in my AA/FC. Great Nitro engines especially when the iron Chryslers started to get scarce. Much stronger and a ton lighter than the stock Chryslers with a fully incorporated girdle for the mains that nearly makes it bullet proof. My Donovan 417 serial #44 was one of the earliest and with a 5/8`s stroked Moldex billet crank is 471 CI with dry sumped oiling.
