It is the Z51 Option -
PERFORMANCE PACKAGE Performance Package, performance-oriented package for the Gymkhana/Autocross enthusiast, includes power steering, engine oil and transmission coolers, stiffer springs and stabilizer bars, specific shock absorbers, larger brakes with cross-drilled rotors, specific tires and Z51 specific 6-speed manual when ordered with 6-speed manual transmission (Z51) $1,695.00

Yup, that about covers it.

The MN6 Z51 option's "specifics" means the first three gears have a more aggressive ratio as opposed the standard MN6.

Those are aftermarket things some people are putting on their cars. The factory doesn't badge cars with the the Z-51 option any differently than cars without the option.

IMO the Z51 option is a VERY good choice on your C6! You get better brakes, different gearing in the manual and other nice goodies. The price is good for what you get and probably adds to resale value. F55 or base car for different tastes but absolutely nothing bad I can think to say at this point about Z51. After all, it's a C6 after all. Nothing is perfect and all things have upside and downside so listen to those who have it and make your decision.

Z51 owners have all made astute buying decisions in getting a C6 with extra value and performance. It's not for everyone but it's great for those who are wise enough to choose it.

I am certainly no expert these are just my opinions.

Have a nice day all. C6 to ya.......

I agree! The Z51 option is the right performance option for many who plan to track, just as the latest technology F55 option with the superior smooth ride is for others.

I love my Z51...why not get it for the amount paid for it? It gives you more car for a great price! Just my .02.

Exactly! Actually a reasonably priced package, but really unnecessary unless you have autocross/ road course aspirations.

This about about as good as it gets in terms of being able to spec out a Corvette to add a little more factory performance. Very much like the "good old days" when you could buy engine/transmission/suspension options to go from mild to wild.

We can't do that any more so the Z51 option is the only way to buy a little more factory performance.

I bought it for the cool rotors. Also the extra cooling. Well I like the suspension too. The tires are a plus. I guess I bought because I wanted everything that comes with the Z51 package and I don't race it. I'm just a car nut.

If you are looking for the C6 which offers the most factory performance to be had short of going to the Z06 then Z51 is the option.

Alright, I will ask a question on behalf of our Z51 curious friend...

Off track, but messing around cornering on say a farm... How does the Z51 compare with the F55 in stiff mode? IE, other than crazy 70 mph turns, is the F55 in stiff mode comparable? How is the chassis sway or roll on the F55? I have tried to get my Z51 to roll / sway and it just won't do it!!

I never drove the F55, no-one had one around here, so I drove the Z 51 and the base. Base also seemed fine, but was only a 1 LT and didn't want that.

Everyone knows about the tour mode being good, how about stiffy mode??
