Default The 5 Most Valuable Corvettes Ever?

The C6 Corvette has not only thrilled long time Corvette enthusiasts, but has brought many newbies into the family. This topic has been discussed by many-diehard for many years and people usually lean toward thier favorite generation. So, I would like to know what C6 owners think are the 5 most valuable Corvettes in existance, excluding factory owned vehicles and race cars.

Here's my opinion:

1) EX-122 - The first Corvette every produced, ex-perimental proto-type built in 1952 (the crown jewel of the Kerbeck Collection) is the oldest Corvette in the world and one of the first dream cars to come true from Harley Earl. In early 2005 at Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, a 1954 Oldsmobile F88 Proto-Type that looked similar to the Corvette sold for 3.3 million dollars, including auction fees. This year, a 2-seater experimental 1954 Pontiac Bonniville Special will be auctioned at Barrett Jackson. We'll all be watching to see if it breaks last uyears record.

2) 1969 ZL-1 - Only 2 ever built. All alumminum 427 with L88 required options. This was a $4,718.35 option on a car that had a base brice of only $4,781.

3) 1967 L88 - Rated at 430 HP, believed to actually produced somewhere in the neighborhoon of 540 HP. Only 20 coupe and convertibles produced.

4) 1969 L88 - 116 produced, coupes and convertibles. ALthough fewer L88 were produced in 1968 (80) it's believed by many that the 1969 are more valuable.

5) 1963 Z06 - Big tank, big break. 199 were produced. Depending on who you speak to, they were either all coupes or mostly coupes plus a few convertibles. The controversy over whether or not the convetibles or car without the big tank are actually Z06s still remains among some Corvette afficianados.

1963 Grand Sport. Only 5 made from my sources. Of course your criteria excluded race cars. I guess I better start reading the whole post.

How about the last remaining 1983 at the museum?

Intersetling that you bring up the Grand Sport! Rumor has it, it was sold at or around the time of the 2003 Monteray Historics for 4.2 million dollars!

But remember, this is just a rumor and I have no hard evidence to back up that claim!

Default Put a value on this one

There were forty seven 1983 Corvettes made but none were ever sold. The National Corvette Museum has the only 1983 known at this time.

Correct, so this would fall into my exclusion of factory owned cars.

The F88 Olds went for 3.3 mil. Your Ex 122 ,if auctioned, would go for 3X that!
