Default need help

Ok. Here are the codes i'm getting. P1860 P0740 P0449 P0418 P0412 C1232 P0443 P0102. I need to fix my tranny problem first i think. I said earlier in another thread that the motor tachs up fine in park and neutral but it falls flat and just shutters with no power in any gear including reverse. I can hold it to the floor and it won't even turn the tires over on slick concrete! My car is a 2000 but i have 98 service manuals that i've been referencing. They said the tranny codes were "emission related". I do know some of the codes i listed were EVAP and AIR related but would they interfere with the transmission? If so what do i need to start looking for?

Greetings...

Looks like you have a couple of different things going on. Below is a link to info related to the codes you are throwing. You can right click and download or view it online. If you are requested for a password, just click cancel. The graphics unfortunately do not copy or display but they are just electrical circuit diagrams.

I'll take a 5am guess at it and say you have a bad wheel sensor (DTC C1232 LF Wheel Speed Circuit Open or Shorted) and the traction control is kicking in when in gear and giving it the gas. This cuts off fuel to the engine. Surprised you don't see a Traction Control Active message. It's like banging the rec limiter but at a slow speed. Can cause the engine to shudder.

The other other problem is the P1860 TCC PWM Solenoid Circuit issue (and the P0740).

Take a look and see if this helps you over the hump.

thanks a lot for the info. it makes sense as to the way it's acting. any ideas on the tranny codes? i have 4 c5's right now. one of them is a partially parted-out 98 coupe. i have a complete left front spindle assembly still on it. are they interchangeable and if not, how do i go about replacing the bad sensor?

Right click over the link and then select Save Target As. Then you can save it directly to your harddrive and view it as a Word Document (Assuming you have word). Any problem email me at joe@vettetech.com.

With regard to the TCC it's explained in the document that is linked. To summarize all the tech bs though.

1. Clean the contacts where the tranny harness comes into the fuse box next to the battery (doubtful but can't hurt).

2. Clean the connector where the wiring harness comes into the Solenoid on the TRanny side (passenger side rear of tranny. Don't twist, squeeze tabs on both sides and pull up). Spray connector with contact cleaner and reinstall.

3. Replace solenoid. Not for the faint of heart but not too bad. Should have service manual in hand if you haven't done tranny work before.

Fix the first/main problem and then see what happens.
