Default The Elvis/Clam Bake Corvete?

I just saw the Elvis Movie "Clam Bake" and there was a Custom C2 or C3 in there. Must of been a C2, Yeah, it had a 65 BB hood
Does anyone know about it or what became of it?
Thanks

Evan
I'm not sure what movie it was, but in one of his movies he was driving the GM Sting Ray racer when it was painted red. Is this the one you saw?

More info on the car and restoration can be found here where it states that the car was driven by Elvis in Viva Las Vegas.

To me, this has the most beautiful lines of any Corvette built. Yeah, I know the aero stinks, but the lines are great!!

It WAS the 1958 Sting Ray racer. I have seen that movie many times, and that is the car.

Actually, it was raced in '59 and '60 seasons with Dick Thompson winning the '60 C-modified SCCA National Championship. Bill Mitchell bought the Corvette SS "mule" chassis (reputedly for one dollar) and had Larry Shinoda design the body under his supervision, and it was fabricated at the GM Design Center.

This was "strictly a private effort on the part of Bill Mitchell" and there were no references to GM or Chevrolet. The car was simply called "Sting Ray" (two words), and it's no surprise that it previewed the styling themes of the new 1963 Corvette.

IIRC the car was in red livery in that movie.

For awhile Mitchell drove it on the street and it went through several "reworks" - different colors and engines including a BB.

The Sting Ray racer is now owned by GM and is in its original configuration and silver livery as it was raced. It occasionally gets out on the show circuit. I've seen it at both the Monterey Historics and SEMA.

Yes, but we are talking about "clam Bake" and not Viva Las Vegas,
Elvis raced a boat and had the car as a sportscar, he was a rich guy that switched roles with his mechanic so he could get a girl to like him for who he was and not his oil money.
Took place in Miami and raced boats at miami marine stadium.
It could be the SR but I have seen it in person and this car is burgandy in the movie,

Trivia for
Clambake (1967)
Although this film is set in Miami, Elvis Presley's scenes were all shot in and around Los Angeles. All the Florida exteriors were shot in wide angles, using doubles for Presley.

Elvis' red sports car in the film is a 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Racer.

This pic show the car off better, and it is the sting ray racer:

this article refers to the Petersen museum and GM heritage collection and calls the car the SR3

A 1959 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 3 concept car appeared in "Clambake," a 1967 movie starring Elvis Presley and Shelley Fabares.
