Hardtop Headliner repair
Hey guys, any suggestions on doing a head liner repair. I only see one post when I do a "search"
Where do you get a dense foam and headliner material like or similar to the OE and who sells the "heads up adhesive for the headliner?

You can check online at Mid-America Motorworks (MAM) I believe they carry replacement headliners.

Check your local listings for an upholstery supply. They should have everything you need. I would bet it is a whole lot cheaper than buying a new one.

OK, I now have the head liner material for my 1985 Hard top
I pulled the old black stuff off fabric off, and rubbed off all of the foam stuff from the sound deadening cushion.
I tried to peel back some of the sound deadening insulation material but I dont see anything under it, is this material glued to the hardtop bottom side?
Anyone done this, do I pull the sound deading material off? Do I have to buy the new insulation too?
I pulled the old black stuff off fabric off, and rubbed off all of the foam stuff from the sound deadening cushion.

Looks pretty simple except the headliner material I bought has foam on it and it is a little thicker than the OEM material.
Is this the same type of material you used, meaning a foam back headliner?

Done, probably a 1-1-1/2 hour job, thanks for your help again Joslinm!
Yes the backing is attatched to the sound deadening material, scrape it all off slowly with a putty knife and then wrap it with new headliner material after allpying adhesive.
Scrape all of the left overs from the fiberglass with a razor blade, clean it well,,,then spray it with adhesive.
Buy Headliner adhesive at Autozone for @ $8-9 bucks.
Simple job!

recently reupholstered my hardtop, I found the spray adhesive I used to glue the headliner to the foam pad did not work well for holding the pad to the roof. I used 3M weatherstrip adhesive and it has been holding fine. I have a black top and the car sets in 100* weather all day while I'm at work and so far so good.
