89 Fuel Filter, how hard to replace??
I may be replacing my fuel pump, I figure I should do the fuel filter also. Where is it located and how hard is it to replace on an 89 coupe. Thanks JZ

the fuel filter is located on the inside passenger frame rail right where the cowl comes down to the frame. you need two wrenches, one to hold the filter and one to loosen the line, do this on each end.

not unless you are really, really skinny. you might be able to, but it would be a major pita. get your front end up on stands or place your wheels on some sort of lift, 2x8's stacked on top of each other and screwed together works for me when i get lazy. then you can crawl under and loosen the nuts and replace.

Some light reading from the Tech Tips section on fuel filters:

Chage the fuel filter every 25-30 thousand miles. How much gas you lose depends on how quick you are. Sorry, not trying to be a smart*** but that's what it boils down to.

Like most maintenance items, it depends on your skill level and your tools. It's a fairly easy job. If you really want to avoid spilling fuel, you can take the extra step of disconnecting the rubber fuel lines at the tank. That requires removing the fuel filler door and then disconnecting the lines--maybe an extra 10-15 minutes vs. having fuel run down your arms.

If you can barely squeeze undeneath it will be tougher than having lots of room.
Might take you 15-20 minutes to change it(probably not the first time)

It's easy on an "89" Vette, the other two articles are for late model Vettes "93" and later which are more difficult to change.
