Default 69 L88 Aluminum Heads Value???

I have come across a set of 69 L88 Aluminum Heads. Casting number 3919842. These were purchased from a GM dealer 8 years ago and have NEVER been machined. All the necessary Valves and hardware also available. These heads have the snowflake with the W in the casting.

What are they worth?

Thanks in advance.

Jeff

Additional info: When the heads were purchased the correct springs, retainers, valves and seals were purchased also. He is checking to see if he bought the rocker arms...I will know tomorrow.

Those are closed chamber heads, used in 68 l88 and 68/69 l89 motors....Think the 69 l88's uded the 074 open chamber design. If the date code is 69, then the heads were used on the l89.

You have to find an NCRS type who has to have that date code....anyone else, they will choose the open chamber design, either from The General, Edelbrock, or others....

put them on ebay

The closed chamber aluminum heads were also used on 69L88s until June 69. They would be of value to someone restoring a 69L88/9 if the dates on the heads work. As far as a price I would say 2 to 3K if someone needs them for a resto.

842 heads were used on the closed chamber IT suffix code engines until about April of 1969. Then they went to the open chamber engines.

Thanks for the info...it was my understanding that total production run used open chamber heads, and closed chamber were used on the L89's.

The 842 heads are closed, used in 68 - 69 on the L-88 and L-89 with 107cc chambers. The 074 open heads were used in 69 on the L-88 and ZL-1. In 70 - 71 they were used on the LS-6. They had 118cc chambers. Chevy also used the 14011077 from 69 up.
