Try http://www.sallee-chevrolet.com. They are pretty good as well as Jim Pace and Scoggin-Dickey.

Are you considering performance shops crate engines too or only GM crate engines??

I got about 100 HP more than most of those crate engines for a lower price than the GM crate engines..

Was this by building your own, or from another source? Thank you!

Well - the warranty is null and void if you drag race/road race or autocross the car anyway.. Why would somebody want a lot of power if you may not race the car... If you are drag racing the car and something on the engine breaks and you file a warranty claim - you are actually commiting fraud!!! Read the fine print in the warranty... Theoretically - the 190 HP crate engine for $1200 would be good enough.. Legally - you can't use the performance on the street anyway.. Street Racing =

yes - they do, but they don't have their performance engines advertised there..
http://www.maxhorsepower.com

Here's a link to the engines that they are currently offering on Ebay...
http://cgi6.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...sort=3&rows=50

I actually just ordered my new engine from them (a custom built engine)...

Many rebuilders have as good a warranty as the new crate engines. Keep in mind that GM's warranty on their performance engines is only for 12 months and doesn't include the labor to replace it.

Whether the rebuild or the new is better will depend on which rebuild you chose. Some use parts and assembly methods that are inferior to the factory engines, some are comparable to factory, and then some use better components and more care in assembly. Personally, I like the idea of being able to select the individual components, putting my money where I think it does the most good for me. I also like the idea of not having to replace a bunch of components (that I paid for) because they aren't compatible with my particular application.

labor to replace broke parts is the main cost if a engine fails.. It's not covered... so the warranty is basically just about worthless anywan... Anyway - no builder gives warranty of engines used in racing events.. so it really doesn't matter where I buy a engine.. it won't come with warranty either way...

GM changed their warranty for perforamce parts eng's in 12/03 so it covers 12months/12,000 miles on parts and labor with some exceptions like racing but how are they going to know unless you tell them?
The regular goodwrench engines are covered with 36 month/36,000 miles for parts and labor also. So the blanket statement that laobr is not covered is inaccurate.

I've heard that the GM warranty only covers the part that fails, not any resultant damage. For example, if a connecting rod bolt fails it will be replaced under warranty, but any damage done to the engine from the loose connecting rod is your problem. Is this true?
