Default Poly. vs. rubber body mounts?

I need to replace both #1 body mounts (especially since I have the front end off). Any pros/cons on going with the poly mounts over the rubber? The poly set is $79 with a new bolt kit, where the rubber set is $139. I know rubber is original, but $$ are tight. Any thoughts? I am looking at the kits from Eckler's.

I am no expert at this but this is what I have heard. Poly will give you a much harder ride, also how long will they last, there is no real data on that. They have not been around that long to know. One thing we all know is that the original rubber ones have lasted 25+ years and thats not bad.

Rubber. Anything you can do to add comfort and ride quality is money well spent. My car rides nice now with new rubber mounts and I am so happy I spent the extra $$.

I replaced all my body mounts last summer with the rubber kit. The ride is great now. I bought my body mount kit from a local corvette shop for 141.00. They suggested that I use the rubber because it will give you a smoother ride. What the heck my vette is an 81 so the mounts were 22 years old.

I am 60% progress on a major body off resto. and spared no expense. I choose to use poly because I believe it helps strengthen the body structure. also lasts longer. I bought rubber before and after a few years they start to crack and split at the surface. My idea is performance not so much comfort!!
