hey, that guy stole my car, ops mine in mulsane blue/black interior and has low 50s on odometer and is all original and I paid many $$$$ less than that, and yes it is fast :D :D :party:

Car sure looks nice :thumbs: I can't tell for sure but dosen't the left front egg crate grill look like it has the phillips head mounting screws characteristic of the 71-72? Also, Both my 70's have the short style windsheld wiper door actuator which I know to be original. Any of you experts know if they put the long style actuator on any of the 70's? I was taking a good look at the engine compartment just to see the difference......Wish I had my original air pump....even though I probably wouldn't put it on.

I've seen those sort of claims before & I still don't understand why anyone would do a ground up resto on a car that only had 65K on it at the time of the resto. My car has 51K on it and looks virtually new except a few paint issues. I can't believe a car driven that little has been abused that much.

It's in Saugus MA - likely had some rust starting to form, and needed a
frame-up resto to be as nice as it is. Saugus .. a great place to grab a steak
and hit some strip clubs.

I have not seen the long actuator for the wiper door on a 70. My car is less than 100 later in production and I have a pie shaped actuator. Looks like a replacement actuator to me. I have not seen many other early production cars for this year(#1954) so there may have been some carryover in some parts from 1969.

Overall a real nice LT1. Awesome car.

Nice car but it looks familiar. Hasn't that one been on eBay before? And is it really worth the 30K "buy it now" price?

I thought all LT-1's were powerbrake cars? I thought that was part of the package?

The "double pie pan" style actuator was phased into production in late October of the 1969 model year. As such, this 1970 car should also have that style actuator... The "can" style would have long been superceded by the time this car was built.

Power brakes were an option with any 1970 Corvette. The only option that absolutely required power brakes during the 1970 model year was the ZR-1 option. In this case, the brakes were included in the ZR-1 package and not listed seperately. For 1970, a Corvette could be ordered with the LT-1 option... And nothing else if the purchaser so desired.

The car appears pretty nice in the photos... There are a few issues that I can see under the hood including the 1968 (also 1969 L-88) style A.I.R. pump as well as a replacement vacuum relay... In addition to the previously mentioned wiper door actuator. Going rate for a correctly restored 1970 LT-1 coupe (Bloomington Gold Certified/NCRS Top Flight) is in the $30,000 - $35,000 range depending on options and colors. Just looking at the photos, it appears that this car isn't quite at that level... Maybe somewhere in the $20,000 - $25,000 range would be reasonable... If everything else checked out.

Regardless, it looks like a really nice car.

By "1969 Model Year" do you men OCtober 1968 or 1969 as the started building them in '68.

Stan, are you sure the 70 LT-1 option could have been ordered with PB? I am led to believe that was only available after 70. (I am sure it was available in 72 , my 72 LT-1 has both BP & PS, also AC--supposed to be one of 250 built that way???

The change from "can" style actuator to "double pie pan" style actuator took place in late October 1969... At the tail end of the 1969 model year. Those 1969 Corvettes built during late October 1969 as well as all 1970-1972 Corvettes used the "double pie pan" style actuator... Although there were some differences among those as well.

Yes, all 1970-1972 Corvettes could be ordered with optional J-50 power brakes including the LT-1. More often than not, LT-1 Corvettes were not heavily optioned and it is rare to see one with more than a radio and maybe a close ratio transmission. Still, a buyer could opt for most of the power and convenience options with an LT-1 if they wanted... With the notable exception of air conditioning which became available later in the 1972 model year and power steering which was first offered with the LT-1 in the middle of the 1970 model year

Power steering was not available on early 1970 LT-1 Corvettes (those with a "CTU" broadcast code), but became available later in the model year... Around late April/early May 1970 ("CTK" broadcast code). The CTU engines had a bigger oil pan that interfered with the power steering equipment... The CTK engines used an oil pan with a shorter sump that provided enough clearance. From the point that power steering became available with the LT-1, CTU engines were used for non power steering cars until the inventory was depleted, then the CTK engine was used for both power and non power steering applications.

The air conditioning option in conjunction with the LT-1 engine is quite rare... As I'm sure you are aware. I've heard production estimates ranging anywhere from 240 to 286 Corvettes equipped with the LT-1 and C-60.

Sounds like a really neat '72 you've got there!
