Wow  Was there many comemorative editions through the years? What an honor. If I were to by an 86 that would hold value, that would be it.....

The pictures are pretty poor but from what I can see, it looks like a pretty clean early C4.

Does that mean I can put a fancy metal 'Boofers Special Edition' plate on my dash and my vette will become an extremely limited edition one of a kind?

I think I read about these in a vette magazine (or I am going insane and just thought I did). These 50 were made for a dealership "Malcolm Konner" and this was the only time that there were vettes made at the factory for a specific dealership in a commerative edition. I don't remember all the details but it was such a hassle or so many other dealerships wanted to do the same that GM said they would never do it again. But I do think it came from the factory like that, not just a dealership sticking on their own stickers and calling it a "special edition". Or I could have drempt it all and all of this is BS.

I am guessing you guys are thinking this is some kind of BS edition option. I admit, I thought so too till I looked it up. It is legit, 50 made and the option listed on the window sticker cost $500.00. Unless the VIN# has a character designating the option I guess the only way to authenticate would be to look at the original window sticker or build sheet. But the repro's from the factory should authenticate it as well.

I wonder if that dealer sold all 50.

Here is the specs for 86. http://www.alarid.com/history/specs/86.htm

I have read that Mr. Konner donated one of these
to the Corvette Museum.
They are for real. Option code: RPO 4001ZA
A $500 option (from GM).

I guess my question is "who cares" ? who the bloody hell is Malcome Konner? and why would I want a corvette with his name on it? so he was a long time chevy dealer - Big Fat Hairy Deal - at least the seller hasnt jacked the price into the stratosphere as if someone actually cared about this "rare" option.

woo Hoot the "hyper rare 1 of 50 commemorative edition for somebody nobody ever heard of"

I wouldnt care if it was 1 of 1 - it still isnt worth a single penny more than a noremal vette of that vintage.

Wrong, being 1 of 50 it is the most rarest option of 86. NCRS is now starting to judge 84-86 and will probably go crazy over this option.

Maybe an NCRS guy can ellaborate on this a bit, I am curious.

I read about these some time ago so I don't remember all the details but there are some things that only the malcolm connor cars had, I think the color scheme is one of them. I think it's a pretty damn nice car and could be valuable over time.

:yesnod: Looking at the specs it doesn't say what else besides color was included with that option. As you mentioned before the evidentally is a special plate in the car, sounds like thats about it.....

But still, 1 out of 50.

For those who haven't rechecked it, auction ended at $7k with reserve NOT met. If that were any other 86 with 82k miles, I doubt it would reach $7k.
